| Christopher Galassi, MD, MS,
IPLI principal, possesses a rare combination of a degree in medicine, as well as deep
skills in real world software engineering and development. This combination allows IPLI
special insight to bridge the clinical computational gap in planning and
development of cutting-edge software for healthcare. Planning and development of systems for Medical Informatics applications require insight into both healthcare and computer sciences. Issues stemming from an inability to bridge the clinical computing gap, present |

many sincere efforts. Single strength in computing results in lack of key insight into
clinical needs while efforts from a position of clinical insight often lack computational
sophistication and vision to succeed. A "committee of experts" approach can be
extremely expensive and still not produce good results due a to simple lack of clear
communication. Dr. Galassi was trained in Medical Informatics at University of Illinois and the National Institutes of Health. He has carried out research on such advanced topics as medical expert systems and pattern recognition in biomedical data, and was recently published in the book "Future Health: Computers and Medicine in the 21st Century". IPLI and Dr. Galassi have experience in applications for the healthcare domain ranging from multimedia simulation for clinical and patient education, to information system development for laboratory data and clinical outcomes collection.
